The Big Ten begins an exciting new era of football in 2023, its first year of a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar deal with CBS, Fox and NBC. But, for one unfortunate moment in Saturday's Michigan-East Carolina game, the conference accidentally branded its own product as, ahem, a "big turd."
Multiple fans from across the college football landscape were quick to point out the unfortunate signage on the Peacock-exclusive broadcast of the Wolverines' season opener. Of course, the sign actually reads, "B1G SATURDAY," but the positioning of announcers Chris Simms and Mike Tirico blocked out all but "B1G TURD."
It's a lesson learned for Simms, Tirico, Peacock and the Big Ten, who should all take pains next time to make sure such a mistake doesn't occur. Their next chance is in Week 2 for Delaware's trip to Penn State. But mistakes tend to live forever on the internet.

Social media, bastion of kindness that it is, was quick to latch on to the innocent mistake before relentlessly mocking the unintended signage.
